Learning to Read From the Bible

There are many beginning-reader books written for public school use—communicating science, social action, and other important learning to the child.

But there are few books for the beginning reader which help him learn the Bible. This book has been written to help satisfy the need for Bible materials at the child’s own reading level.

It is important for the beginning reader to enjoy the great stories of the Bible, but he also should see these stories in the context of lessons to be learned and how those lessons shape his life.

This series introduces Bible readings to the child in the context of what he will learn from them. For example, stories which teach sharing are grouped under this heading.

After each story, helps are given at the child’s own reading level. These guide him in discovering new words, new thoughts, and new applications form the Bible reading.

A basic vocabulary list is given at the back of this volume. All readings are built from this basic list, in addition to the few new words introduced with each reading.

New words are listed with each reading under the heading, “New Words I Have Learned,” and a cumulative list of all new words in given at the back of the volume.
